Original Legislation des Douanes 1813

Some time ago we have purchased this very rare 'Legislation des Douanes', this from a seller who

lives in France. This rare book is still in reasonable condition, complete, without missing any pages.

On some pages the ends are a little curled and the pages are a little bit brown coloured through the

years of time. We at this moment only know about the existence of a further two other books, one

of them also being a second edition, like ours.  These are in the private collections of the University

of Michigan and Heidelberg (U.S. / Germany).

This code de douanes is the second edition of the 'Legislation de Douanes' de L'Empire Francais and

printed in Paris, on march 1813.

Front side of the book, soft cover in a blue colour, you can see the curled edges of the pages, (the blue colour

looks more brighter then it is, because of the flash from the photo camera)

Inside of the book, you can see the name of the writer, auteur and his address in Paris, Rue de Vaugirard nr.60.

The price for this book is also mentioned; eight francs, which was a lot of money in Napoleonic times.

Further inside, regulations for the douanes uniforms, these are not complete, and often what was regulated and

what was truly used, was big in difference.

A page of regulations about the armament of the douanes preposes, of course this is all theoretically, often in

practice, things were going totally different.

Pages that describe how the douanes brigades had to functioning.
